Embiid Powers 76ers Past Pelicans
Joel Embiid put on a masterclass Saturday night. The big man scored 40 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Philadelphia defeated New Orleans 124-114. The 76ers improved to 27-21 while the Pelicans fell to 13-38.
Embiid Takes Over
Embiid looked unstoppable all game long. He attacked the basket like a charging bull. His footwork confused defenders at every turn. He finished shots through contact and powered past double teams. When Embiid caught the ball in the paint, Pelicans defenders knew trouble was coming. His 40-point explosion kept Philadelphia in control.
Kelly Oubre Jr. provided major help with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Tyrese Maxey added 18 points and eight assists, setting up teammates perfectly. Rookie VJ Edgecombe chipped in 15 points and five assists. Jared McCain scored 12 points off the bench. The 76ers got contributions from everyone.
Bey Battles for New Orleans
Saddiq Bey refused to let New Orleans quit. He poured in 34 points on great shooting. Bey's jumper looked smooth and automatic. He created his own shots and knocked down tough looks. Trey Murphy III added 19 points and nine rebounds, fighting hard on both ends.
The Pelicans still miss key players. Dejounte Murray remains out while recovering from surgery. Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum also missed the game. Zion Williamson managed just 11 points in 30 minutes. Rookie Jeremiah Fears scored 12 points as the starting point guard.
Quarter By Quarter
New Orleans actually led 33-31 after the first quarter. Then Philadelphia turned up the heat. The 76ers outscored the Pelicans 36-21 in the second quarter. That gave them a 67-54 halftime advantage. Philadelphia kept pushing in the second half and never looked back.
The 76ers continue building momentum at home. Embiid stays healthy and dominant right now. New Orleans keeps fighting despite missing so many stars.
