Celtics Roll Past 76ers in Second-Half Surge
Boston's has now won two games in a row with a commanding 114-98 victory over Philadelphia on Sunday night. The Celtics intensified their effort after halftime and never looked back.
Hot Start Turns Cold for Philadelphia
The 76ers surged ahead to a 28-26 lead after the first quarter. However, Boston completely transformed the game in the second period. The Celtics erupted for 36 points before halftime, while Philadelphia managed only 22 points in that quarter. Consequently, Boston led 62-50 at the break.
The momentum never shifted back to Philadelphia. Boston continued to pile on the points in the second half, adding 27 points in the third quarter. As a result, they extended their lead to 89-83 going into the final period.
Queta Dominates the Paint
Neemias Queta was a force inside the paint. The towering performer grabbed rebounds with both hands and finished strongly at the rim. He scored an impressive 27 points with remarkable shooting accuracy. In addition, Queta secured 17 rebounds and blocked three shots, resembling a giant protecting the basket throughout the game.
Jaylen Brown equaled Queta’s scoring with 27 points of his own. Brown also recorded eight assists and collected eight rebounds. He made his shots appear effortless, smoothly gliding to the basket and nailing jumpers.
Derrick White contributed 21 points and provided eight assists. He also demonstrated solid defensive skills with two steals and two blocks.
Maxey Battles Without Help
The 76ers played without their star center Joel Embiid, who was sidelined due to an oblique strain. They also missed Paul George, who received a suspension.
Tyrese Maxey fought valiantly for Philadelphia. He scored 33 points but required 43 minutes to achieve that total. Though his shooting struggled at times, he persisted in attacking the basket.
VJ Edgecombe added 23 points in 40 minutes of play. Andre Drummond grabbed 12 rebounds while Dominick Barlow contributed eight boards.
Boston's record improved to 40-20 this season, while Philadelphia fell to 33-27. The Celtics appear well-prepared for a playoff run as their star players continue to shine.
