Thunder Dominate in Second Half
The Oklahoma City Thunder powered past the San Antonio Spurs 119-98 on Tuesday night. The Thunder now sit at 34-7, holding the top spot in the conference. San Antonio drops to 27-13 despite their strong season.
Shai Takes Command
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander looked unstoppable all night long. The reigning MVP poured in 34 points while dishing out 5 assists. He slashed to the basket like a lightning bolt. His footwork confused defenders at every turn. Shai also swatted away 4 shots on defense. When he rises up to block a shot, it looks like he can touch the sky. He finished with a plus-29 rating, the best on either team.
Thunder Pull Away in Third Quarter
Oklahoma City led by just three points at halftime, 55-52. Then the third quarter hit like a thunderstorm. The Thunder exploded for 40 points in the period. San Antonio managed only 24. The Spurs couldn't keep up as Oklahoma City's defense locked down. By the time the fourth quarter started, the Thunder led 95-76.
Spurs Fight Without Answer
Stephon Castle led San Antonio with 20 points and 8 assists. He battled hard but couldn't stop the Thunder's surge. Victor Wembanyama, the 7-foot-4 phenom, scored 17 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. De'Aaron Fox added 14 points on efficient shooting. Julian Champagnie chipped in 13 points. The Spurs missed Devin Vassell, who sat out with a strained left thigh.
Thunder Get Balanced Attack
Jalen Williams added 20 points on fantastic shooting. He made 60 percent of his shots. Alex Caruso knocked down 13 points in just 20 minutes. Jaylin Williams grabbed a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Thunder played without Luguentz Dort, who sat with a sore left foot.
Thunder Keep Rolling
Oklahoma City continues finding its championship rhythm. The Thunder have now won three straight games. San Antonio faces a tough challenge figuring out how to close games on the road against elite teams.
