Seahawks Outlast Rams in a Wild, High-Scoring NFC Championship
The Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams delivered an unforgettable NFC Championship Game at Lumen Field. Big plays, quick answers, and nonstop scoring kept fans on their feet from start to finish. When the final whistle blew, Seattle had done enough to punch its ticket to the championship.
First Quarter: Fast Start and a Catch to Remember
Seattle struck early. After a deep pass flipped the field, running back Kenneth Walker III powered the Seahawks down close. He finished the drive with a short touchdown run to give Seattle a quick lead.
The Rams answered right back. Matthew Stafford hit Puka Nacua on a long pass to set up a field goal, keeping the game tight.
Midway through the quarter, the moment everyone will remember happened. With about three minutes left, Jaxon Smith-Njigba made an incredible one-handed catch near the sideline. He reached out with one hand, secured the ball, and stayed in bounds. The crowd exploded, and the play sparked another long Seahawks drive. Seattle finished the quarter with a field goal to stretch the lead.
Second Quarter: Back-and-Forth Before Halftime
The Rams leaned on their passing game in the second quarter. Stafford spread the ball around and led a long drive that ended with a touchdown pass to Kyren Williams out of the backfield.
Seattle did not slow down. Sam Darnold answered with sharp throws, including a deep strike late in the half. With seconds left before halftime, Darnold found Smith-Njigba in the end zone for a touchdown, giving Seattle the lead heading into the break.
Third Quarter: Big Plays Everywhere
The third quarter felt like a track meet. Seattle opened the half with a short-field touchdown after a muffed punt. Just minutes later, the Rams fired back when Stafford connected with Davante Adams for a quick score.
Both teams kept trading punches. Darnold led another smooth drive, capping it with a touchdown pass to Cooper Kupp. But the Rams were not done. A deep touchdown to Nacua late in the quarter pulled Los Angeles right back into the game and set up a tense final period.
Fourth Quarter: Seattle Closes the Door
The Rams threatened again in the fourth quarter, driving deep into Seattle territory. The Seahawks defense bent but did not break, forcing a stop inside the red zone.
Seattle then leaned on the run game. Walker ripped off tough yards to chew up the clock, while Darnold made key completions to keep the chains moving. A late punt pinned the Rams deep, and even though Puka Nacua caught a long pass, he was tackled before he could get out of bounds to stop the clock and Los Angeles ran out of time.
Seahawks Head to the Super Bowl
In a game packed with highlight plays and momentum swings, Seattle stayed calm when it mattered most. From Smith-Njigba’s unbelievable one-handed grab to timely stops on defense, the Seahawks earned a thrilling win and are now headed to the Super Bowl stage.
