NFL Power Rankings – Week 5 (Teams 32–17)
32. New York Jets (0-5)
The Jets suffered another disappointing defeat, losing to the Cowboys 37-22. Although Justin Fields secured some significant plays, the team was undermined by five sacks and two turnovers, which hindered their ability to keep pace. Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall displayed commendable effort, yet the defense surrendered far too many touchdowns. As the losses continue to accumulate, New York is still seeking solutions.
31. New York Giants (1-4)
The Giants fell 26-14 against the Saints, and in addition to the loss, received disheartening news that star rookie Malik Nabers will miss the remainder of the season. Jaxson Dart had mixed performance, throwing two touchdowns but also two interceptions during his second start. Rookie tight end Theo Johnson managed to score twice, but the offense faltered in finalizing drives during the second half. Without Nabers, the Giants must identify new strategies to advance the ball.
30. New Orleans Saints (1-4)
The Saints achieved a much-needed victory, defeating the Giants 26-14. Spencer Rattler exhibited sharp decision-making, while Rashid Shaheed's remarkable 87-yard touchdown significantly shifted the momentum of the game. The defense clinched the win with a lengthy fumble return in the fourth quarter. New Orleans demonstrated determination; however, they must maintain this momentum heading into Week 6.
29. Tennessee Titans (1-4)
The Titans staged an unexpected 22-21 comeback against the Cardinals. Rookie quarterback Cameron Ward displayed grit and confidence by orchestrating two late touchdown drives. Veteran receiver Tyler Lockett caught the game-winning pass after it was deflected in the end zone. With this victory, Tennessee has finally marked their presence in the win column, and Ward is offering fans a reason for optimism.
28. Las Vegas Raiders (1-4)
The Raiders faced a demoralizing 40-6 defeat at the hands of the Colts. Rookie Ashton Jeanty managed a few commendable runs, but turnovers and sacks dismantled every drive. Geno Smith struggled with two interceptions, and the defense was unable to halt their opponent’s progress. Las Vegas must quickly regroup before their season slips further away.
27. Miami Dolphins (1-4)
Miami experienced a heartbreaking 27-24 defeat to Carolina and will be without Tyreek Hill for the remainder of the season. Tua Tagovailoa threw three touchdowns, including a notable 46-yard pass to Jaylen Waddle, yet the defense struggled to contain the opposing run game. While the Dolphins' offense continues to gain yardage, Hill's absence creates a substantial void. They will need others to step in and keep hope alive.
26. Cleveland Browns (1-4)
The Browns demonstrated considerable effort but ultimately lost 21-17 to the Vikings in London. Rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel threw two touchdowns and exhibited poise in his first start. Quinshon Judkins rushed for over 100 yards, showcasing his capabilities as the primary running back. Although Cleveland showed signs of progress, crucial late-game mistakes once again cost them the victory.
25. Cincinnati Bengals (2-3)
The Bengals were defeated 37-24 by the Lions on Sunday night. Jake Browning displayed promise with three touchdown passes, but his two interceptions handed Detroit easy scoring opportunities. Ja’Marr Chase had an impressive performance, accumulating 110 yards and two touchdowns, yet the defense was unable to contain Jared Goff. Cincinnati fought valiantly but has struggled to secure wins in the absence of Joe Burrow.
24. Baltimore Ravens (1-4)
The Ravens endured a crushing 44-10 loss to the Texans. With Lamar Jackson absent due to a hamstring injury, the offense faltered without his leadership. Baltimore has faced an extraordinarily challenging schedule, and if Jackson remains sidelined, they risk jeopardizing their playoff aspirations. The defense appeared fatigued, conceding four touchdown passes to C.J. Stroud.
23. Arizona Cardinals (2-3)
The Cardinals squandered a 21-6 halftime lead and ultimately lost 22-21 to the Titans. Kyler Murray and Marvin Harrison Jr. connected on several significant plays early in the game, but critical mistakes in the fourth quarter proved costly. The defense was unable to halt Cameron Ward in the closing minutes, and fumbles continued to plague their performance. Arizona must learn how to effectively close out games.
22. Carolina Panthers (2-3)
The Panthers pulled off a thrilling 27-24 victory against the Dolphins. Bryce Young displayed admirable poise, throwing the game-winning touchdown pass to Mitchell Evans. Running back Rico Dowdle had an explosive performance, rushing for over 200 yards and driving the offense in the second half. Carolina's young talents are beginning to harmonize, and this win could ignite a turnaround for the season.
21. Houston Texans (2-3)
The Texans delivered an unexpected and resounding 44-10 victory over the Ravens. C.J. Stroud exhibited excellence by throwing four touchdown passes and effectively distributing the ball among his playmakers. Additionally, the defense managed to force three interceptions. Houston looked formidable as a cohesive unit and seems poised to ascend the rankings.
20. Chicago Bears (2-2)
The Bears enjoyed a well-deserved bye this week following a narrow victory in Week 4. Caleb Williams has breathed new life into the offense, while the defense has tightened its performance over the last two games. They are playing with greater intelligence and minimizing errors. As they prepare for their return in Week 6, maintaining this balance will be essential.
19. Atlanta Falcons (2-2)
The Falcons took a breather this week after enduring a challenging loss prior to the bye. Rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr. continues to showcase his potential, and Bijan Robinson remains central to the offense's strategy. The defense has exhibited inconsistent performance yet shows promise. Atlanta must focus on starting strong next week to remain in contention for a playoff spot in the NFC.
18. Dallas Cowboys (2-2-1)
The Cowboys triumphed decisively over the Jets, winning 37-22, aided by Dak Prescott's four touchdown passes. Javonte Williams broke out as the team's leading back, rushing for over 130 yards. The defense maintained an aggressive approach throughout the game and generated turnovers. With this performance, Dallas has reasserted itself as a contender and will aim to build on this newfound momentum.
17. New England Patriots (3-2)
The Patriots achieved an astonishing 23-20 victory against the Bills while playing on the road. Drake Maye displayed remarkable composure, and Rhamondre Stevenson contributed significantly with two touchdowns. The defense was effective in generating turnovers and limiting Josh Allen during crucial moments. This victory demonstrated that New England can compete robustly with any opponent when they execute intelligent, physical football.
