LitZone Rookie Report – Week 1
1. Cam Ward, QB, Titans
Cam Ward had a tough first game in the NFL. He threw for only 112 yards and was sacked six times by the Broncos defense. He showed his strong arm on a few plays, but he had no time to get comfortable. This season will be about learning and getting better. The Titans need to protect him so he can grow into the player they hope he will be.
2. Travis Hunter, WR, Jaguars
The Jaguars used Travis Hunter mostly on offense, and he played a lot of snaps. He caught six passes for 33 yards, helping Trevor Lawrence move the chains. He did not make a big play, but the team clearly trusts him. As he gets more comfortable, he should become a bigger part of the passing game.
3. Ashton Jeanty, RB, Raiders
Ashton Jeanty carried the ball 19 times, but he only gained 38 yards. The defense stopped him often, but he did score a short touchdown that gave the Raiders a boost. He also caught two short passes. The numbers were not great, but the coaches gave him a lot of chances. That shows they believe in him.
4. Emeka Egbuka, WR, Buccaneers
Emeka Egbuka was the star of the Buccaneers win over the Falcons. He caught four passes for 67 yards and scored two touchdowns, including the game winner late in the fourth quarter. He also ran the ball once for nine yards. Defenses will focus on Mike Evans, which means Egbuka should keep getting good chances to shine.
5. Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Panthers
Tetairoa McMillan gave the Panthers offense some energy. He caught five passes for 68 yards and showed good route running. He did not score, but he looked like a player who can help Bryce Young right away. As the Panthers improve, McMillan should see even more targets.
6. Tyler Warren, TE, Colts
Tyler Warren was a key player in the Colts big win over the Dolphins. He caught seven passes for 76 yards and gave Daniel Jones a reliable target. He did not score a touchdown, but he moved the ball down the field all night. He already looks like one of the top rookie tight ends.
7. Matthew Golden, WR, Packers
Matthew Golden only caught two passes for 16 yards, but both came early and helped the Packers get into a rhythm. He is still behind some other receivers on the depth chart, but his role should grow as the season goes on.
8. RJ Harvey, RB, Broncos
RJ Harvey had only six carries, but he made the most of them. He ran for 70 yards, including a 50 yard burst that set up a touchdown. He also caught one pass for a loss of one yard. His speed and energy were easy to see. If he keeps running like this, he will get more chances.
9. Kaleb Johnson, RB, Steelers
Kaleb Johnson’s first game was quiet. He had one carry that lost two yards and did not catch a pass. He is behind other running backs for now, but his time could come later in the season if he keeps working.
10. TreVeyon Henderson, RB, Patriots
TreVeyon Henderson showed he can do a little of everything. He rushed five times for 27 yards and caught six passes for 24 yards. His quickness makes him a good fit in the Patriots offense. He should continue to play a big role as both a runner and receiver.
Some rookies made a big impact in Week 1. Emeka Egbuka and Tyler Warren looked ready to play right away. RJ Harvey showed big play ability, while Travis Hunter and Tetairoa McMillan earned important roles in their offenses. Cam Ward and Ashton Jeanty struggled at times, but both got lots of chances. This rookie class is already full of players to watch closely.
