Cavaliers Cruise Past Shorthanded 76ers 115-101
The Cleveland Cavaliers decisively defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 115-101 on Monday night. The 76ers entered the game without several of their key players, and Cleveland took full advantage of this situation.
Missing Stars Hurt Philadelphia
The 76ers had to play without Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul George. Embiid has been sidelined since late February due to a right oblique strain. Maxey was unable to play after colliding with a teammate late in Saturday's contest. George is currently serving a suspension that will keep him out until late March.
Without their usual stars, Philadelphia struggled to stay competitive. They fell behind by six points after the first quarter. By halftime, Cleveland had increased their lead to 12 points. The Cavaliers continued to dominate in the third quarter, extending their advantage to 21 points heading into the final period.
Harden and Cavaliers Take Control
James Harden led the Cavaliers with 21 points and five assists. The experienced guard scored effectively throughout the game, making over half of his shots. He displayed confidence while directing the offense, delivering precise passes and scoring whenever the defense offered an opening.
Keon Ellis contributed 19 points and proved to be a strong presence on defense. Donovan Mitchell added 17 points and six assists, focusing on involving his teammates and directing plays like a skilled point guard. Evan Mobley secured eight rebounds and blocked three shots at the rim. Dean Wade excelled on the boards, collecting 10 rebounds while also contributing 13 points.
Grimes Leads Sixers Effort
Quentin Grimes fought hard for Philadelphia, scoring 17 points in 36 minutes of play. Justin Edwards came off the bench and added 14 points with impressive shooting. Cameron Payne contributed 12 points and six rebounds.
However, the 76ers simply lacked the necessary firepower. They missed their star players, and being shorthanded ultimately caught up with them. With this victory, Cleveland improved to 40-25, while Philadelphia's record fell to 34-30. The Cavaliers demonstrated why they are considered one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, playing with intensity on both ends of the court.
