The New York Knicks Win the 2025 NBA Cup
The New York Knicks won the 2025 NBA Cup with a 124–113 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night in Las Vegas. The championship game was played at T-Mobile Arena and featured a dramatic second-half comeback by New York. It is the Knicks’ first major trophy since their 1973 NBA championship, giving fans a long-awaited reason to celebrate.
A Tough Battle Early
The Spurs controlled most of the game early. They led 61–59 at halftime and stayed in front after three quarters, holding a 94–89 advantage. San Antonio’s young stars played with confidence, pushing the pace and attacking the basket. Rookie guard Dylan Harper led the Spurs with 21 points, while Victor Wembanyama added 18 points, including several impressive three-pointers and alley-oop dunks. De’Aaron Fox chipped in 16 points and kept the Spurs organized on offense.
Knicks Take Over Late
The game completely changed late in the third quarter and into the fourth. The Knicks went on a huge 13–1 run that flipped the score and gave them control. Once New York grabbed the lead, they never looked back. The Knicks dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring the Spurs 35–19 to turn a close game into a comfortable win.
OG Anunoby led the Knicks with 28 points, attacking the rim and hitting a big three during the comeback. Jalen Brunson scored 25 points and was named NBA Cup MVP. He stayed calm under pressure and made big plays when the Knicks needed them most. Karl-Anthony Towns added 16 points and 11 rebounds, even after briefly leaving the game with a calf issue.
Winning the Physical Game
One of the biggest differences was rebounding. The Knicks crushed the Spurs 59–42 on the boards. Mitchell Robinson was a force inside, grabbing 15 rebounds, including 10 offensive rebounds. That effort led to a 56–44 edge in points in the paint and gave New York many second chances. The Spurs simply wore down as the game went on.
What This Means for New York
This NBA Cup win shows how far the Knicks have come. With Brunson playing like a superstar and Towns spacing the floor, New York looks like one of the best teams in the East. Under new head coach Mike Brown, the offense is more modern while the defense remains strong. With depth, toughness, and confidence, the Knicks now look like real title contenders, and this trophy could be just the beginning
