Week 2 NFL Injury Report
Injuries happen in football, and they can change how a team plays from week to week. When a player gets hurt, it often affects important body parts like joints, bones, or muscles. Knowing what each injury is helps us understand why a player cannot be on the field and how long it might take for them to heal. Here are some injuries heading into Week 2.
Raiders
Brock Bowers (TE) hurt his knee. The knee is a hinge joint that connects the thigh bone to the shin bone. It bends so you can walk and run. When it is injured, it can swell and make it hard to cut or jump. Bowers did not practice and might not play against the Chargers.
Packers
Jayden Reed (WR) has a fractured collarbone. The collarbone is the bone that runs across the top of your chest and shoulder. It helps connect your arm to your body. When it breaks, you cannot raise your arm without pain. Reed will need weeks to heal.
Chiefs
Xavier Worthy (WR) has a shoulder injury. The shoulder is a ball-and-socket joint that lets your arm move in many directions. If the muscles or ligaments around it are hurt, it can feel weak or unstable. Worthy practiced a little but is doubtful to play this week.
Eagles
Dallas Goedert (TE) has a knee sprain. A sprain means the ligaments, the strong bands that hold bones together, are stretched or torn. This makes the joint sore and unstable. Goedert has already been ruled out for the big game against the Chiefs.
49ers
Brock Purdy (QB) is dealing with turf toe and a sore shoulder. Turf toe happens when the big toe bends too far back. The toe joint gets swollen and makes it painful to push off when running. His shoulder also hurts, which affects throwing. He is out for two to five weeks.
George Kittle (TE) has a hamstring injury. The hamstring is a group of muscles in the back of the thigh that help you run fast and bend your knee. If the muscle tears, it can hurt badly and make sprinting impossible. Kittle is on injured reserve and will miss at least four weeks.
Commanders
Austin Ekeler (RB) has an Achilles injury. The Achilles tendon is a thick cord in the back of your ankle that connects the calf muscles to the heel bone. It helps you push off the ground when you walk or run. When it is injured, you cannot explode off your foot. Ekeler is out for the rest of the season.
These injuries show how tough football can be on the body. Knees, shoulders, and ankles all play a huge role in running, catching, and throwing. When one of these parts is hurt, even the best players need time to recover. As Week 2 begins, these missing stars will make a big difference in how their teams perform.
