Ravens Crush Dolphins 28-6 in Halloween Eve Masterclass
On a spooky Halloween eve in Miami, the Baltimore Ravens (6-1 entering the game) delivered a treat for their fans with a dominant 28-6 victory over the struggling Miami Dolphins (2-6 entering the game). The Ravens entered as legitimate Super Bowl contenders looking to maintain their grip on the AFC standings, while the Dolphins desperately needed a win to keep their slim playoff hopes alive after their recent 34-10 victory over Atlanta.
First Quarter: Ravens Strike First Blood
The game started with Miami showing some early promise. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa connected with star receiver Jaylen Waddle for a 20-yard gain, and running back De'Von Achane looked sharp catching passes out of the backfield. The Dolphins managed to drive deep into Ravens territory and kicked a 49-yard field goal to take an early 3-0 lead.
However, Baltimore's championship experience quickly showed. A crucial fumble by the Dolphins gave the Ravens excellent field position near the goal line. Derrick Henry, the 31-year-old powerhouse who continues to defy age, pounded the ball down to the one-yard line. Lamar Jackson then found his reliable tight end Mark Andrews for a two-yard touchdown pass. The Ravens led 7-3 after one quarter, setting the tone for what would become a long night for Miami.
Second Quarter: Jackson and Andrews Connect Again
The second quarter belonged entirely to Baltimore's dynamic duo of Jackson and Andrews. After Henry powered his way to the 20-yard line with his signature bruising running style, Jackson delivered a perfect 20-yard touchdown strike to Andrews. This marked Andrews' return to his Pro Bowl form after struggling in 2024.
Miami managed one more field goal, a 43-yarder, but couldn't find the end zone despite some solid work from Waddle, who caught several passes for decent yardage. The Ravens took a commanding 14-6 lead into halftime, with Jackson looking efficient and Henry controlling the ground game.
Third Quarter: Ravens Pull Away
Baltimore turned the game into a rout in the third quarter. Jackson showcased his dual-threat ability with a 13-yard scramble, then found his favorite target Zay Flowers for a spectacular 39-yard bomb down the field. The drive culminated with Jackson hitting Rashod Bateman for a nine-yard touchdown pass, extending the lead to 21-6.
Meanwhile, Miami's offense completely stalled. Tagovailoa faced heavy pressure from the Ravens defense and couldn't establish any rhythm. The Dolphins managed just one first down in the entire quarter, showing how far they still have to go despite their recent improvement.
Fourth Quarter: Ravens Cruise to Victory
The final quarter was all about Baltimore controlling the clock. Henry continued his dominant performance, finishing with 119 rushing yards on 19 carries, proving that concerns about his age were premature. Jackson completed 18 of 23 passes for 204 yards and four touchdown passes, putting together another MVP-caliber performance.
Tagovailoa threw an interception that sealed Miami's fate, finishing with 261 yards passing but unable to find the end zone. Waddle caught six passes for 82 yards, while Achane contributed 67 rushing yards and 39 receiving yards in another solid dual-threat performance.
Looking Ahead
This victory improves Baltimore to 7-2 and strengthens their position atop the AFC standings. The Ravens' combination of Jackson's playmaking, Henry's power running, and a defense that created timely turnovers makes them look like the AFC's most complete team.
For Miami, the loss drops them to 2-7, making their playoff hopes extremely slim. Despite Tagovailoa's recent strong play and Waddle's emergence as a true number-one receiver, they need significant improvement on both sides of the ball.
Both teams will look to regroup as they prepare for their next challenges in what promises to be an exciting finish to the 2025 season.
